UTICA, NY – Senior
Jenna Ondash (New Canaan,CT/New Canaan) led the Dutchwomen's late-game scoring blitz to power the Union College women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Utica in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon. The Dutchwomen, who are riding a six-game unbeaten streak, improve to 8-2-2 overall. Utica drops to 7-5-1.
Ashley Granger tallied both Utica goals, the first coming less than six minutes into the game, and the second in the 25th minute. The Dutchwomen outshot their hosts, 13-5 in the opening half, but Utica goaltender Ashley Kaufman thwarted Union, saving all nine shots on net.
Ondash scored her first of two goals in the game in the 53rd minute, and followed with another 20 minutes later.
Rachel Schneidman (Chappaqua, NY/Horace Greeley) assisted on the first, while
Chelsea Hargis (East Lyme, CT/East Lyme) notched the helper on the second.
Caitlin Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA/King Philip Regional) netted the game-winner with less than 15 minutes left in regulation, with Ondash nabbing the assist.
Mia Simone (Rexford, NY/ Academy of the Holy Names) made one save for the Dutchwomen, while Kaufman finished with nine.
Union is back in action on Friday, October 20 when the Dutchwomen host Hamilton in a key Liberty League matchup at 4 p.m.
