SCHENECTADY, NY -- Senior forward Adam Marsh scored the only goal of the contest at 24:03 of the first half to lead Vassar to a 1-0 Liberty League men's soccer victory over #24 ranked Union Saturday at College Park Field.
The Brewers improved to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in Liberty League play, while the Dutchmen fell to 7-2-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the league. Union entered the game with a string of four straight shutouts and a 3-0-1 mark in those games.
Marsh scored from the left side out, approximately 10 yards out through a crowd, after a feed from Alex Freund. Jason Cetel made seven saves in the Brewer net, while Union's
Rob Kramer (Westport, CT/Staples), this week's Liberty League Defensive Player of the Week, stopped six Vassar shots.
Union had nine corner kicks to Vassar's three, while the hosts had a 13-12 shot advantage on the day.
The Dutchmen return to action Tuesday, October 10 when they host Elmira at 6 p.m. Vassar is idle until Saturday, October 14 when play at league rival RPI at 1 p.m.
