NEWTON, MA – Brad Carvoulias scored 24 points and Jose Guitian had 21 with 13 rebounds as Lasell College won a non-league game over Union, 77-56 Wednesday night. The Dutchmen now stand 1-1 on the young season.

Jaime Crawford had 12 points as Lasell shot 51% for the night and had a 33-27 rebounding advantage. The hosts had a 37-29 advantage at halftime.

Junior center Kyle Grimm (Sherrill, NY/Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central) led the Dutchmen with 14 points and also had a team high eight rebounds. Sophomore forward Drew Desmarais (St. James, NY/Smithtown) added 12 points and six rebounds and hit six of nine shots from the floor for Union, which shot 42% for the night. Freshman Joey Lokitis (Norton, MA/Phillips Academy) scored eight points off the bench for the Dutchmen and Steve Madej (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills) added seven.

Union returns home Saturday to host Middlebury College at 4 p.m. at the Viniar Athletic Center.
