SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College Dutchwomen dropped an 8 - 0 defeat to the Raiders of Colgate University Friday night at Messa rink in an ECACHL contest. The Dutchwomen dropped to 4-9-0/0-5-0 on the season while Colgate improved to 5-9-1/5-3-0.
Alex Zirbel (Clearwater, FL) made 23 saves in net for the Dutchwomen in the first period, but Colgate was able to tally three goals, including one on the power play. The power play goal was the first goal of the game and came at the 11:25 mark of the first period. Ali Edell controlled the puck on Zirbel's left side and was able to sneak a backhand shot past the goaltender.
Edell and teammate Sam Hunt which each record hat tricks for the Raiders. Colgate out shot the Dutchwomen 58 to 25 for the game.
Union returns to ECACHL action tomorrow afternoon at four o'clock as they host Cornell.
