ONEONTA, NY - A trio of players scored three goals apiece for Hartwick as the Hawks posted a 12-10 win over Union College in a non-conference men's lacrosse game at the All-Weather Field on Wednesday evening. Bryan Bendjy (Salisbury/Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) scored three goals
had two assists in this match against Hartwick.
Hartwick held a 7-5 advantage at the half, then tallied five more times in the third to build a 12-7 lead entering the fourth period. Union tallied a pair of goals in the first 6:02 of the fourth quarter to
cut the Hawks lead to 12-9, but Hartwick held the Dutchmen to just one goal over the final 8:58 to preserve the win.
Pat McCormack (West Genesee/Camillus, N.Y.), Brian Miller (Acton-Boxboro/Acton, Mass.), and Dan Hushion (Farmingdale/Farmingdale, N.Y.) each netted three goals for Hartwick.
For Union, Bill Condon (Conard/W. Hartford, Ct.) and Matthew Douglas (Hotchkiss/New York, N.Y.) each tallied a pair of goals.
Hartwick got nine saves from sophomore goalkeeper David Smaus (Princeton/Princeton, N.J.), who earned the win in his second start of the season. Union's Rob Oram (New Canaan/New Canaan, Ct.) stopped 16 shots.
Hartwick improves to 4-7 with the win, while Union falls to 3-7. Union will host Vassar next Wednesday, April 19.
