Field Hockey falls to No. 16 Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- The Union College field hockey team suffered a 7-0 non-conference setback at No. 16-ranked Williams Tuesday evening. The Dutchwomen fall to 1-1 on the short season, while Williams improves to 2-0.

The Ephs held a 3-0 first-half lead on a tiro of goals by sophomore Meigan McGowan (Greenwich, CT), all scored within the first 15 minutes of the game.

Union sophomore goalkeeper Liz Stanford (Acton, MA/ Acton-Boxboro Regional) made seven first-half saves, and 11 in the game, but the Ephs proved too much, netting four goals in the second half. Junior Katherine Kreig (Milwaukee, WI) and sophomore Julia Nawrocki (Winchester, UK) each netted a pair.

Union senior forward Jessica Trotter (St. Louis, MO/ John Burroughs) had two shots for the Dutchwomen.

Union starts Liberty League play on Saturday when the Dutchwomen travel to Skidmore for a 4 p.m. game.
