SCHENECTADY, NY -- Union and Stevens battled to a 0-0 overtime tie in a non-league women's soccer game at Union's Garis Field Saturday afternoon. The Dutchwomen are now 4-2-2 on the season while the Ducks stand 5-2-3 after this contest.
Union had a 20-13 shot advantage on the game, including 3-2 in the total (both) overtimes. Union freshman keeper Mia Simone (Rexford, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) made two saves in the home nets while Erica Midttveit (jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) stopped six for the Ducks.
The Ducks had a chance to take the lead with 25:39 remaining in regulation. Megan Legendre (O'Fallon, ILL/O'Fallon Township) had a shot directly in front stopped by Union defender Sara Wilson (Wilbraham, MA/Minnechaug Regional) for a team save. Under five minutes later, Union's Stephanie Cronan (Marblehead, MA/Marblehead) was uncontested on the left side seven yards out but her shot went just wide of the post.
Union had a 4-1 advantage in corners and had 11 fouls to Steven's nine.
The Dutchwomen return to action tomorrow (October 1) to host St. John Fisher at 1 p.m.
