SCHENECTADY, NY – A balanced offensive effort by the 19th-ranked Union College women's soccer team led the Dutchwomen to a 6-0 defeat of Hartwick College Saturday afternoon at College Park Field. Union was led by a pair of goals from sophomore
Allison Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA), who was among nine Dutchwomen to record a point in the game. The win marks the fourth-straight victory and the eighth shutout this season for the Dutchwomen, who improve to 12-3. Hartwick drops to 5-10 overall.
Senior captain
Stephanie Cannuli (Howell, NJ) put the Dutchwomen on the board five minutes later with her second goal of the season.
Caitlin Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA) took a shot that was blocked and Cannuli touched the rebound in at the near post past Ashley Taylor (Nashua, NH) who attempted the diving save.
Union extended its lead in the 21st minute when
Chelsea Hargis (East Lyme, CT) fired from 15 yards out in the dead center of the field.
Katie McLean (Newton, MA) picked up the assist with a pass through defenders that set up Hargis' shot that found the right corner of the net.
The Dutchwomen added four goals in the second half, first from
Allison Cuozzo.
Caitlin Cuozzo set her up with a cross on the ground, and
Allison Cuozzo powered her way in, tipping the ball just inside the near post.
Ashley Brown (Plainville, CT) picked up her third goal in two games in the 50th minute with a header off a corner kick by Hargis.
Allison Cuozzo struck again in the 62nd minute. After receiving a long pass up the right side of the field from
Rachel Schneidman (Chappaqua, NY), Cuozzo burst forward and around an attacker before sending a low shot just inside the left post.
Freshman
Meghan Hartnett (Danvers, MA) capped the scoring in the 81st minute with her first career goal. Hartnett connected with a high kick on a corner by
