Chris Poey (Amherst, MA) scored in the 63
rd minute to give Union a 1-0 victory over Clarkson in Liberty League men's soccer action at College Park Field Saturday afternoon. The game was temporarily suspended due to lightning in the area at the 78-minute mark. Union improves to 9-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play. Clarkson drops to 3-6-2 and 0-3-1 in the league.
Senior
Matt Wentworth (North Andover, MA) started Union's scoring play by stripping the ball from a defender down the right line and maneuvering up the field. His sliding pass found classmate
Dane Mellon (Clifton Park, NY) in the box, whose cross was headed in by Poey for his fifth goal of the season.
Rob Kramer (Westport, CT) two saves in each half, mostly on long shots by the Golden Knights, for his sixth shutout of the season. Jonathon Rushing (Paw Paw, MI) stopped three Union shots.
The Golden Knights held a 6-2 advantage in corners, while the Dutchmen outshot their visitors, 10-7.

Union is back in action on Wednesday, October 10, in a 4 p.m. game against Southern Vermont. Clarkson travels to St. Lawrence for a 2 p.m. Liberty League game on Saturday, October 13.
