UTICA, NY -- Union improved to 3-3 overall on the year with a 66-59 women's basketball win at Utica Monday night. The Dutchwomen snapped a two-game series winning streak by the Pioneers with a 16-0 run in the second half.
Junior forward Michelle Rogers (Clarence/Clarence) scored a game-high 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Junior center Rachel Ormsby (Charlton/Burnt Hills) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds, including six on the offensive glass, and chipped in with seven points. Senior captain Devon Ciliberto (New Paltz, NY) pulled down 10 rebounds for the Dutchwomen. Rachel Scott (Colonie, NY) had nine points and Megan Clark (Wilbraham, MA) added eight for the victors.
Union won the points-off-turnover battle 24-15, and the Dutchwomen bench outscored Utica 24-7.
Sophomore forward Jessica Berry (Rome/Rome Free Academy) scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed seven boards, while freshman guard Devon Croll (Vernon Veron Sherrill/Vernon) scored 15 points and grabbed three steals. Union trailed by five at the half, 34-29 and the Pioneers led 48-39 with 8:31 left in the second half. But the Dutchwomen went on the 16-0 run to take a 55-48 lead with 4:52 left.
Union returns home Thursday to host Springfield at 7 p.m.
