NEW HAVEN, CT – The Yale University women's hockey team exploded for five third-period goals to break open the game as they defeated Union, 8-1, in ECAC Hockey League action at Ingalls Rink Saturday afternoon.
Suzy Pocock (Sterling Heights, MI) netted her ninth goal of the season in the loss.
Pocock gave the Dutchwomen (4-24-0, 0-20-0 ECACHL) the lead midway through the first period with a power-play tally at 12:01.
Lauren Muske (Ramsey, MN) passed across the high slot to Pocock, who bounced her wrister high on the right side off Yale goaltender Ansley LaHue.
Yale (15-10-2, 10-8-2 ECACHL) answered back with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead headed into the first intermission, and added another on the power play in the middle frame. Union held the Bulldogs to 12 shots in the second period.
Yale's Sheila Zingler led the Bulldogs' late offensive blitz with a third-period hat trick. Zingler and Crysti Howser each netted four points in the game.

Mandy Hanson (Brainerd, MN) made 36 saves in the loss, while LaHue made 15 saves in her second win of the season.
The Dutchwomen are back in action in their final regular season ECACHL games February 16 and 17 against St. Lawrence and Clarkson. Union faces off with the Saints Friday at 7 p.m. and will take on the Golden Knights and recognize its senior class Saturday at 4 p.m.
