SCHENECTADY, NY – Senior forward
Krystal Hammond (Clifton Park, NY/ Shenendehowa), competing in her final regular season home game, had a season high 15 rebounds and 13 points to lead Union to a 63-47 women's basketball win over Liberty League rival Clarkson Saturday at the Viniar Athletic Center. Union improved to 13-11 overall and 9-5 in the league while the Golden Knights are now 8-17 and 4-10 in the league.
Union clinched the #2 seed in the upcoming Liberty League Championship Tournament and will face #3 Hamilton next Friday, February 23 at 6 p.m. at St. Lawrence. The Saints, the top seed, will take on William Smith at 8 p.m. Union downed Hamilton at home but lost on the road earlier this season.
Hammond posted her ninth double double of the season and had her most rebounds since 16 in a game against William Smith last season. She and senior guard

Maria Tobin (Schenectady, NY/ Bishop Maginn) scored 16 points off the Union bench in 15 minutes of play, and the Dutchwomen outrebounded the Golden Knights, 56-40.
Devon Ciliberto (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) added eight points for Union, which shot 35%.
Vanessa Westcott (Parish, NY/APW) led Clarkson with 15 points and five assists, while Monica Thomas (Sandwich, MA/Sandwich) finished with 13 points. Sarah Wesner (Sidney, NY/Sidney) pulled down 10 rebounds for Clarkson. The Saints were held to 28% shooting by Union, which forced 22 turnovers by the visitors. The 56 rebounds by Union set a new season high. Union had a 29-23 halftime lead and led by as many as 20 in the second half, 55-35 with 8:11 remaining.
