SCHENECTADY, NY --The Union College Dutchwomen were defeated 9-1 by the No. 3 nationally ranked Dartmouth Big Green Saturday afternoon at Messa Rink in a women's ECAC hockey league contest.Freshman Sarah Parsons had a hat trick and two assists to lead Dartmouth's offense and freshman netminder Sarah Kennedy picked up her 3rd collegiate win as she stopped 15 Dutchwomen shots.
Dartmouth improves to 19-4-2 overall and 16-1-1 in the ECACHL while Union falls to 4-22-0 overall and 0-18-0 in the ECACHL.
Union's goal came with just ten seconds remaining in the first period to cut the then deficit in half 2-1.
Meagan Beck (Niskayuna, NY) took a pass at the center point from Dutchwomen captain
Kelly Lannan (Winchester, MA) who then went in front of the net to set a screen. Beck took slap shot from the point that hit traffic in front of the net and hit the crossbar before finally getting past Kennedy for her 2nd goal of the season.
Mandy Hanson (Braintree, MN) and Danielle
Kimble (Reston, VA) combined to stop 52 Big Green shotss.
The Dutchwomen take to the road next weekend as they play ECACHL rival Brown at 7:00 pm Friday night.
