No.3 RIT downs lacrosse Dutchmen, 17-4

ROCHESTER, NY -- The third-ranked RIT men's lacrosse team handed Union College a 17-4 defeat Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. Chris Collison (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) led the Dutchmen with two goals.

Led by six points each from Scott Farress and Eric Prtichard, RIT expanded on a 3-2 first-quarter lead to take a 9-3 lead at the half.

Union kept the game close early, as Jon Miller (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) knotted the game at one each early in the first quarter before Collison tied it again late in the opening period.

RIT tallied six unanswered goals in the second before Collison netted his second goal of the game. Dana Lasher (Norfolk, MA/King Phillip Regional) scored late in the third, but the Tigers closed the game with five-straight goals to win their third straight of the season.

Rob Oram (New Canaan, CT/ New Canaan) made 14 saves through the first three quarters, and Rahde Franke (Harwood, MD/Mercersburg Academy) stopped three shots in the final quarter of action.

Union is back in action at Hampden-Sydney on March 26 in a 4p.m. game.
