Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Dutchwomen win third straight lacrosse game, 17-2 vs. Skidmore

SCHENECTADY, NY – Senior Stephanie Cronan (Marblehead, MA/Marblehead) scored four goals and assisted on another as the Union women's lacrosse team improved to 5-1 in Liberty League play with a 17-2 home victory over Skidmore at a snowy Frank Bailey Field Sunday. The Dutchwomen improved to 6-3 overall and the Thoroughbreds fell to 1-12 overall and 0-6 in the league.

Caitlin Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA/King Phillip Regional), Allie Toney (Bayville, NY/Locust Valley) and Steph Egizi (Westwood, MA/Westwood) scored two goals each for the Dutchwomen, who won their third straight. Emily Bryson (Charlestown, MA/Gov. Dummer) paced the Dutchwomen with three assists along with a score. Union got a goal and an assist from Keelin Skurek (Massilon, NY/Western Reserve Academy), Molly Koch (Pasadena, MD/Tabor Academy) and Jill LaForest (Acton, MA/Acton-Boxboro). Also scoring for the hosts were Liz Zamore (South Hero, VT/Essex), Keri Messa (Saratoga Springs, NY/Hotchkiss School), and Abbey Runner (Stanley, NY/Marcus Whitman).

Union outshot Skidmore, 36-12, including 25-5 in the first half, and converted all five free position opportunities. The Dutchwomen had an 18-9 ground ball advantage in the wet and snowy conditions, but the contest was played on Union's field turf at the stadium.

Skidmore's goals were scored by Lizzy Dickey (Greenwich, CT/Greenwich) and Katie Weber (Princeton, NJ/Princeton Day School).

Union led 9-0 before Dickey put the guests on the board with just over 10 minutes remaining in the first half. Union scored three goals in the first two minutes of the game. Cronan now has 33 goals to lead Union this season.

Goaltender Stephanie Burlton (Coquitlam, BC/Milton Academy) made three saves in the first 30 minutes for Union while Melissa McDonald (Lynnfield, MA/Phillips Academy) stopped four shots in the second half. Courtney DeStefano (Rehoboth, MA/Moses Brown-RI) made nine saves for the Thoroughbreds.

Union plays a non-league game Tuesday at Hartwick at 4 p.m., while Skidmore hosts Liberty League rival William Smith Friday at 4 p.m.
