TROY, NY – Led by eight different goal scorers, Union College defeated SUNY Purchase, 8-0 in the final game of the Fourth Annual Red Hawk Classic at Harkness Field. With the victory, the Dutchmen improve to 2-0-0 on the season and claim this year's tournament title. The Panthers fall to 0-2-0 overall.
Union opened the scoring early in the first half, beginning with a goal by junior
Kevin Donovan (Hanover, MA) at 5:38. Sophomore
Ryan Banagan (Albany, NY) earned the assist after his corner kick was headed into the net by Donovan.

Dane Mellon (Clifton Park, NY) made it 2-0 at 12:26 with a successful penalty kick and junior
Brendan Steiner (Madison, CT) gave the Dutchmen a three-goal cushion less than five minutes later after driving home a header into the top left corner of the net.

Tripp Pietrak (Amherst, NY) and three more goals followed to give Union a 7-0 lead at the halftime.
The Dutchmen, who outshot the Panthers, 27-0 in the game, continued to dominate in the second half, as sophomore
Peter Vucich (Vail, CO) made it an 8-0 advantage at 55:09.
Three goaltenders combined for the shutout for Union. Starter
Rob Kramer (Westport, CT) played the first 30:52 before giving way to junior
Harris Fendell (Short Hills, NJ), who saw action in 42:50. Freshman
Ryan Green (Santa Barbara, CA) closed out the final 16:18. None of the goalies made any saves.
For SUNY Purchase, starter Noah Colantuono (Pawling, NY) shouldered the loss, making eight saves in 45:00. He was relieved in the second half by freshman Alex Frenkel (Danbury, CT), who posted eight saves in the second half.
