Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

5th-ranked Women's Soccer downs Clark, 2-0

WORCESTER, MA – The 5th-ranked Union College women's soccer team extended its winning streak to seven games with a 2-0 victory at Clark University Tuesday night. The loss snaps a three-game win streak for the Cougars, who draw even at 3-3-1. Union stands 7-0 on the season, and has recorded six shutouts.

The Cougars found themselves down early in the match as Allison Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA) scored with a header off a corner kick from Chelsea Hargis (East Lyme, CT) just over a minute into the game.

Clark had a chance for the tying mark when Liz Adamcik (Florence, MA) broke through the defense and skirted Union keeper Melissa McDonald (Lynnfield, MA), but her shot sailed wide right.

The Dutchwomen kept up an offensive push, earning seven corner kicks to Clark's one. A stalwart Cougar defense kept Union from finding the net again, however. Another corner from Hargis with less than 15 in the half bent towards the goal, but Megan O'Rourke (Somerset, MA) was there to send it out.

Clark controlled the ball most of the second half in search of the equalizer, placing a total of nine shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. Their best chance came when Kerri Moy (Newton, MA) crossed a ball to Kristen Murrone (Middletown, CT), but her bid just missed the top corner of the goal.

Caitlin Cuozzo (Norfolk, MA) gave the Dutchwomen a two-goal cushion in the 72nd minute. Megan Bordino (New Paltz, NY) delivered the ball to Cuozzo inside the box and a quick turn sent the ball home.

Union opens Liberty League play at William Smith College on Friday at 4 pm. Clark begins division play on Saturday, traveling to NEWMAC rival Springfield College for a 7 pm matchup.
