POTSDAM, NY – Junior Maria Tobin (Schenectady, NY) scored a team high 14 points in 20 minutes to lead Union to a 74-39 Liberty League women's basketball win at Clarkson Friday at Alumni Gymnasium.

The Golden Knights dropped to 2-10 overall and 0-1 in conference, while Union evened the Liberty League record  at 1-1 and is now 7-5 overall. Michelle Reddinger had 12 points and 12 rebounds for Clarkson.

The Dutchwomen started the first five minutes with an offensive flourish that put them on pace for more than 100 points in the game, shooting out to a 16-6 lead in the first five minutes of the contest. Clarkson combated that run with a 9-0 run of its own to cut the advantage to just a single point, 16-15 at 10:30. However, that small margin was fleeting for the Knights as Union scored 12 unanswered points over the next four minutes to take a commanding double-digit lead.

Tobin led all scorers in the first half, leading the Dutchwomen with 11 points in just 11 minutes of action. Talitha Linden-Darrow (West Sand Lake, NY) and Michelle Rogers (Clarence, NY) also contributed seven points for Union. Michelle Reddinger was the leader for Clarkson, producing eight points and eight rebounds, while shooting 4-for-6 from the floor.

The Knights' defense couldn't restrain Union in the second half either, as the team held a commanding 36-19 lead in scoring in the second half. The Dutchwomen out rebounded Clarkson 44-27, and shot 50 percent from the floor (27-for-54) in the game. The Knights struggled at 28.6 percent (16-for-56 from the field).

Lauren McCormick (Hoosick Falls, NY) added 11 points, in 16 minutes off the bench for the Dutchwomen.

Reddinger was the only Clarkson player to reach double figures while Katie Goldberg added eight points off the bench.

Union plays Saturday at St. Lawrence at 2 p.m. while Clarkson hosts Skidmore.
