Dutchmen lose to Hobart at home, 75-51

SCHENECTADY, NY – Freshman forward Adam Salzmann (Connelly, NY) had a double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Robert Estep (York, PA) scored 16 and John Grazioli (Melville, NY) added 15 in Hobart's 75-51 Liberty League men's basketball win at Union's Viniar Athletic Center Saturday afternoon. Hobart now stands 7-9 overall and 2-3 in the league while the Dutchmen fell to 4-11 and 0-5 in the Liberty League.

Hobart shot 53% for the game, including 62% in the second half (13 for 21 attempts). The Statesmen outrebounded the Dutchmen, 41-32.

Union was paced by junior forward Drew Desmarais (St. James, NY) with a double double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Joey Lokitis (Norton, MA) had six points and six rebounds with three assists and Steve Madej (Burnt Hills, NY) scored seven points for Union. Hobart held a 40-29 lead entering the second half, and increased the lead to 25 with a 14-0 run in the first 5:48 of the second stanza. The largest lead for the Statesmen was 27 at 73-46 with 2:27 remaining. After Union had a 14-12 scoring edge in the paint in the first half, the Statesmen outscored the Dutchmen, 12-4 in the paint in the second half.

Union plays Friday night at Vassar while Hobart returns to action at home Friday vs. Clarkson.
