CLINTON, N.Y. -- Brendan Steiner (Madison, CT) scored 2:44 seconds into the first overtime to lift visiting Union College to a 2-1 Liberty League men's soccer victory against Hamilton College at Love Field Saturday.
Steiner laced a free kick from about 25 yards out for his third goal this year. Rob Kramer (Westport, CT) and Ryan Green (Santa Barbara, CA) made four saves each for the Dutchmen (7-2-2 overall, 2-1-1 Liberty). Kramer was injured early in the second half and did not return.
Jesse Arroyave gave Hamilton (6-4, 2-3) a 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute when he scored on an assist from Marcus Dormanen '10. Dormanen crossed the ball to Arroyave, who headed it in for his team-high sixth goal.
Union tied the score in the 35th minute on the first goal this year by John Manna (Acton, MA). Manna one-timed a crossing pass from Marc Zeyak (Valatie, NY) into an empty net after the Continentals' goalkeeper and a defender knocked each other to the ground.
Anthony Carello made four saves for Hamilton, which held a 15-12 advantage in shots.
Union has a non-league game at home Wednesday, October 15 vs. Elmira at 6 p.m.
