SCHENECTADY, NY -- Keil Corey (Bristol, VT) scored with 21:36 remaining in regulation time to give Skidmore a 1-0 Liberty League men's soccer victory over Union Saturday at College Park. The Thoroughbreds improved to 2-3 in the league and 9-5-2 overall while the Dutchmen fell to 2-2-1 in league play and 8-3-2 in the league.
Corey headed home a corner from Deigo Reinero (Princeton, NJ), into the upper right corner of the cage for his second score of the year.
The Dutchmen outshot Skidmore, 9-6 in a game that featured five yellow cards. Skidmore had 11 of the game's 20 fouls and two of the three corners in the contest.
Union's Ryan Banagan (Albany, NY) was stopped on a penalty kick with 14:43 remaining in the first half. After Peterson's stop, Banagan had another shot on the rebound but the Skidmore keeper came up big again.
Skidmore goalkeeper Nick Peterson (West Hartford, CT) made six saves while his Union counterpart, Rob Kramer (Westport, CT) stopped three.
Union plays in league action next Friday at St. Lawrence.
