Box Score

SCHENECTADY
, NY – The Dutchmen's ice hockey team put up a late charge, but an empty net goal with 1:53 left sealed a 4-1 Princeton victory Saturday at Messa Rink. Union, which is now 4-4-1 and 1-3-0 in ECAC Hockey play, was led by a goal by junior center Jason Walters and a season-high 41 stops by sophomore Corey Milan.

Princeton was led by four different goal scorers and 28 saves by junior Zane Kalemba to improve to 5-1-0 and 4-1-0 atop of the ECAC Hockey standings.

Walters got Union on the board with 2: 34 remaining in the game off of a pass from sophomore left-winger Adam Presizniuk. Walters roofed the shot over Kalemba's left shoulder for his third goal of season and second in as many games. Sophomore defenseman Brock Matheson picked up the second assist on the play with a headman pass to Presizniuk through the neutral zone.

Following a Dutchmen timeout, Princeton took a two-minute high-sticking penalty allowing Union to pull Milan for a two-man advantage with 2:23 remaining. After Princeton cleared the zone and won the puck in its offensive end, sophomore Matt Arhontas registered an empty netter.

Sophomore Sam Sabky posted the Tigers first goal 18:21 into the first period. The goal, which was set up by juniors Dan Bartlett and Tyler Beachell, was the first of two power play goals on nine attempts for Princeton.

Princeton junior Mark Magnowski made it 2-0 at 8:42 of the second. The assists went to sophomore Mike Kramer and freshman Derrick Pallis.

Sophomore Taylor Fedun increased Princeton's lead to 3-0 at 12:18 of the third with a power-play marker.

Union, which was only given three chances on the power play, finished with 29 shots, while Princeton totaled 46.

The Dutchmen caught the iron a few times during the game – most notably sophomore center John Simpson's try late in the second while playing 4-on-4.

After a week hiatus, Union returns to Messa Rink for a Thanksgiving treat, hosting Army on Friday, Nov. 28 and Providence on Saturday, Nov. 29. Both contests are at 7 p.m.
