GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College basketball team sank a season-high 13 three-pointers en route to an 82-64 Liberty League victory over Union College Friday night.

The Statesmen (11-13, 6-7) led from start to finish behind a 48.3 percent shooting night that included 13-of-24 from behind the arc (54.2%). Hobart committed just 10 turnovers compared with 19 for the Dutchmen.

A 17-5 run early in the first half put the Statesmen firmly in control. Back-to-back threes by first-year guard Rob Estep (West York/York, Pa.) jump-started the surge. He scored nine of his game-high 18 points during the run, as Hobart built a 25-10 lead.

Union (8-15, 4-9) got within nine, 39-30, on a three by junior guard Steve Madej (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and trailed by the same at halftime, 40-31. Madej finished with 12 points, all from behind the arc.

First-year guard Tim Llewellyn hit a layup to start the second half scoring and Hobart maintained a double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest. Llewellyn scored 16 points, including 4-of-5 from long range, while handing out five assists.

First-year forward Adam Salzmann matched Estep's 18 points (with three threes) and collected a game-high nine caroms. Senior forward John Grazioli was the fourth Statesmen in double digits, recording 15 points and moving up two spots on the school's career scoring list to No. 12 (1,118).

Junior forward Drew Desmarais (St. James, N.Y.) paced Union with 13 points and five rebounds.

Union closes out the 2007-08 season Saturday at Hamilton.
