CLINTON, NY -- Sydney Fasulo scored 18 points and pulled down seven rebounds and Jess Barrows added 17 points to lead Hamilton College to a 55-47 win over visiting Union Saturday afternoon. The Continentals improved to 15-9 overall and 10-4, seeded third in next weekend's Liberty League Championship Tournament. The Dutchwomen (13-11) fell to 7-7, for a fourth place tie with RPI, but the Red Hawks clinched the fourth and final tourney berth due to a tie breaker over Union.
Pumla Sathula had a game best 10 rebounds for Hamilton, which won despite shooting 36% for the game. Both teams had 34 rebounds on the day.
Union was led by junior guard Maria Tobin (Schenectady, NY). She had 11 points and was four for four at the line. Selin Whitham (South Windsor, CT) scored 10 points with a game high six assists, while Michelle Rogers (Clarence, NY) added eight points and six boards. Rachel Ormsby (Charlton, NY) also pulled down six rebounds.
Hamilton had a 28-20 lead at hlaftime, after making 11 of 23 shots from the floor in the first half (48%). The Dutchwomen trailed by 12 at 34-22 with 17:08 remaining, but went on a 21-9 run to tie it at 43-43 with 6:33 remaining in regulation. But the hosts pulled away again with a 12-2 run for a commanding 55-45 advantage with 52 seconds left in the second half.
The Dutchwomen will await a possible ECAC post-season tournament selection. The ECAC Upstate Championship tourney field will be announced on Monday, March 3.
