SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- Junior forward Michelle Rogers (Clarence, NY) scored a career high 24 points and Union had a 41-15 halftime lead as the Dutchwomen won, 73-36 at Skidmore Tuesday night. Union, winners of three straight, now stands 11-7 overall and 5-3 in Liberty League play, while the Thoroughbreds fell to 11-8 and 4-4 in the league.
Rogers made 11 of her 13 shots from the floor and also had seven rebounds and five steals in the victory. Rachel Ormsby (Charlton, NY) also had seven rebounds and scored 15 points, and senior captain Devon Ciliberto (New Paltz, NY) added seven boards.
Kellye Caufield scored 10 points to lead Skidmore, and Christine Kemp added nine. Amber Kinsey had a team high eight rebounds and Laura Michel pulled down seven rebounds.
Union shot 53% in running up the 26 point lead in the first 20 minutes. The Dutchwomen shot 48% and forced 24 turnovers on the night, and Union had 11 players score in the triumph. The Dutchwomen led the entire game, with Ormsby hitting a three-pointer to seal a 14-0 run at 9:50 of the first half that put Union ahead, 20-5. For the game, the Dutchwomen scored 34 points off of 24 Skidmore turnovers.
The Dutchwomen play at home this weekend, with games Friday night vs. St. Lawrence at 7 p.m. and vs. Clarkson Saturday at 2 p.m.
