SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- Freshman guard Drew Goldstein (Philadelphia, PA) scored 20 points and junior forward Drew Desmarais (St. James, NY) had a double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds as Union won in Liberty League play at Skidmore, 84-82 in overtime Tuesday night. 
The Dutchmen are now 5-13 overall and 1-7 in Liberty League play. Skidmore fell to 6-13 overall and is also 1-7 in the league.
Joey Lokitis (Norton, MA) had eight assists, six steals and 15 points while senior captain Kyle Grimm (Sherrill, NY) also scored 15 points in the victory. Ryan Fischer-Werner led the Thoroughbreds with 19 points and six assists. Skidmore trailed 33-22 at halftime, but outscored Union 53-42 in the second half to force the overtime.
Union used tough defense to  build an 11-point lead at the half, 33-22.  The Dutchmen forced 11 Skidmore turnovers, scoring 15 points.  Union extended its lead to 16 in the second half, 55-39, on a lay-up by Delon McAllister (Irvington, NJ) with 12:50 to play.  The Thoroughbreds never gave up, chipping away at the lead until Jake Shechtman hit his third three-pointer of the game with 31 seconds to play to tie the game 75-75 and force overtime.
The teams traded field goals to open the overtime, before Union's Steve Madej (Burnt Hills, NY) hit a three at 3:54 to give the Dutchmen the lead for good, 80-77.  Fischer-Werner kept it close for the Thoroughbreds in OT with a clutch jumper and a three-pointer.  
Union hosts St. Lawrence Friday night at 7 p.m. and hosts another league rival, Clarkson, Saturday at 2 p.m.
