ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 11 Dutchwomen's soccer team had their winning streak halted at three games as Rochester gave Union its first loss, 2-0, on Saturday. Sophomore goalkeeper
Abby Stohler (West Hartford, CT) turned aside eight shots, including seven in the second half. With the setback Union goes to 3-1-0, while Rochester improves to 3-1-1.
The Tigers produced their goals in the first nine minutes of the game and Rochester's Laura Bojko tallied the game's first marker eight seconds after the kickoff. Ellen Coleman scored her team's second goal at 8:56 from a scramble in front.
Junior midfielder
Katie Brown (Madison, CT) almost put Union on the board at 19:29 after junior midfielder
Katie Weinstein (Marblehead, MA) sent a corner into the box. Brown unloaded a shot that sailed high.
Freshman forward
Jessica Strang (Rotterdam, NY) had two shots on goal. Her first try came at 23:36 after Rochester surrendered possession by going offsides. Strang fired again at 39:18, but was denied.
Stohler, who has shared two shutouts this season, made her first start of the season. Rochester's Celeste Hornbach finished with two saves.
The Dutchwomen travel to St. John Fisher on Sunday, Sept. 14 for a 2 p.m. contest.
