ITHACA, NY -- Senior outside hitter Julie LaSpina (Roslyn Heights, NY) had 16 kills on the day as the Union volleyball team improved to 6-0 with two victories at the Ithaca College Bomber Invitational Friday. Union swept RIT, 25-14, 25-18 and 25-13, then later won in four games over St. John Fisher (25-12, 17-25, 23-25, 25-23).
In the opening win over RIT, LaSpina had seven kills while Veronica Mynders (Greenville, NY) had 10 digs. Rachel Ormsby (Charlton, NY) posted five blocks with eight kills and eight digs, and Bridget Little (Glenville, NY) added seven blocks and six kills.
Union won for the sixth time in six matches by downing the Cardinals in four games. Mynders had 19 digs and LaSpina had nine kills while freshman Eve Richards (Schenectady, NY) finished with 11 kills. Ormsby had 16 digs and 11 kills and Jennifer Merinder (Andover, MA) had 40 assists.
The Dutchwomen face New York University Saturday at 11:30 a.m., and then will either play at 2 p.m. or 4 p.m.
