SCHENECTADY, NY -- Maria Tobin hit a three point field goal early in the second half to set a new Union career record and the Dutchwomen rolled to a 74-36 Liberty League win over Clarkson Friday night at the Viniar Athletic Center.
Lauren McCormick scored a game high 13 points with seven rebounds for the Dutchwomen (8-3, 2-0 in the Liberty League). The Golden Knights fell to 5-7 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Tobin hit a three from the left corner with 13:57 remaining in the second half to get her 178th career three point field goal. She broke the record held by her former teammate, Erika Eisenhut (2002-06).
Leah Pepe added a career high 10 points and four assists while
Selin Whitham had team highs of four steals and four assists.
Katie Goldberg (Stowe, VT) led Clarkson with 12 points and Chrissy Scanlon (Queensbury, NY) led all Golden Knights with five rebounds. Clarkson washeld to 23% shooting, and the Union defense held Clarkson to 18% shooting in the first half en route to a 38-14 halftime lead.
Michelle Rogers, the nation's leading Division III field goal percentage performer, had nine rebounds and eight points in 21 minutes as the bench saw action for the Dutchwomen. Union shot 43% for the game and had a commanding 59-29 rebounding advantage, a season high for the team in rebounds. Union's largest lead was 38 points four times, including with the final score.
The Dutchwomen host St. Lawrence Saturday for NCAA Take a Kid to the Game Day, with free prizes and autographs for area youth for the 2 p.m. game. Clarkson is at Skidmore Saturday.
