Lundy Day made 31 saves en route to becoming Union's all-time career saves leader during a 3-1 loss at Colgate Saturday afternoon. Day entered the game needing only nine saves to pass Amanda Hanson, who totaled 1,896 saves between 2003-07, and reached the mark midway through the first period. The Calgary native now has 1,918 career stops.
The Dutchwomen received a goal from freshman forward
Lauren Hoffman -- fifth of the season. The goal came on the power play with only five seconds remaining in the game.
Sophomore forward
Marissa Gentile picked up her fifth point and seventh point of the season with the helper on the play.
The Red Raiders went up 1-0 with 1:03 remaining in the first on a goal from Jessi Waters, setup by Amanda Kirwan and Evan Minnick.
They added to the lead with goals at 13:47 of the second by Sam Hunt – on the power play – and at 14:16 of the third by Jacquie Colborne.
Union's goal came on the power play, spoiling the shutout for Kimberly Sass, who finished with 20 saves.
The Dutchwomen went 1-for-8 on the power play, while the Red Raiders were 1-for-5.
Union returns to Messa Rink on Friday, Jan. 23 for a 7 p.m. game against St. Lawrence.
