SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The Skidmore College women's soccer team broke a scoreless tie with 1:08 remaining in regulation for a 1-0 Liberty League victory over Union Saturday at Wachenheim Field.
The Thoroughbreds move into first place in the Liberty League with a perfect 5-0 league and 11-2-1 overall record. The Dutchwomen drop their first league game to go to 4-1 and 10-4 overall.
Sophomore Elena Stansky scored the game winner at the 88:52 mark when freshman Kelsey Yam dribbled the ball along the end line, making a move to get by a Union defender and then placing a perfect cross to Stansky who scored from 10 feet out. Stansky has now scored a goal in three consecutive games, with two of those goals being game-winners.
After a defensive first half, both teams came alive offensively in the second. The Thoroughbreds had many chances in the second half, Yam snuck by the defender and attempted to put it past Union keeper

Caitlin O'Donnell was able to get to the ball right before it went in and keep it a scoreless in the 60th minute.
The Dutchwomen put plenty of pressure on the Skidmore defense, but goalie Meghan Sleezer stayed strong and made a great diving save to rob
Allison Cuozzo late in the second half to keep Union off the board.
The Thoroughbreds outshot Union 14-11. Sleezer made four saves for her seventh shutout of the season and Stohler stopped two shots for the Dutchwomen.
