Continentals hold off field hockey Dutchwomen, 2-1

Box Score

SCHENECTADY, NY --
Goals by Holly Rodiger (Wilton, CT) and Carly Andrascik (Clifton Park, NY) early in the second half propelled the Hamilton College field hockey team to a 2-1 Liberty League win at Union College Friday afternoon at College Park. The Continentals improved to a perfect 4-0 in the league and 6-2 overall, while the Dutchwomen now stand 2-2 in the league and 5-5 overall.

Union's Tyler Willey pulled the hosts to within one but it came with just 1:01 remaining in the second half. Willey took a feed off a corner with an assist to Lizzy Moran to notch her team best fifth of the year.

Union had a 14-10 shot advantage and also had seven corners to Hamilton's five.

The goaltenders combined for 11 saves in a scoreless first half, as Hamilton's Courtney DeMaria (Littleton, MA) made five of her game's six saves in the first 35 minutes. Union's Sarah Rios stopped six of her game's seven saves in the first half.

Hamilton opened the scoring at 41:37 when Rodiger produced her first tally of the year. Mary Lancaster (Monkton, MD) passed from the right of the net and fed Rodiger, who made it 1-0 for the guests from seven yards out. Andrascik's second of the year at 44;01 proved to be the game winner. A pass from Sarah Flisnik got to Andrascik in a crowd in front, and she scored in the right corner of the cage.

Union hosts St. Lawrence Saturday at 1 p.m. in a game that will be played at College Park Field.
