Katie McLean's seventh goal on the season helped Union defeat RPI 2-1 on a lightly rainy Friday evening at College Park.
In the 73rd minute, McLean's one touch shot from a cross pass by senior
Katie Weinstein gave Union the lead back. The win extends the Dutchwomen's win streak to five.
The Dutchwomen opened the game with a quick response. Senior
Allison Cuozzo scored the first goal of the game in the sixth minute. Senior
Bianca Germain made a perfect cross inside the goal box for Cuozzo to quickly shoot the ball and give Union a 1-0 lead.
At the beginning of the second half, Union made a quick response offensively. Thirteen seconds into the second half, McLean headed and also shot to the net but both were blocked by RPI goalkeeper Melissa Pinsonneault. Germain then responded to the block but her shot went high.
Afterward, RPI played aggressive offense throughout in the second half. With a crowded goal box, RPI's Jaquelyn Garlasco prevented the ball from leaving Union's goal box and Shannon Maguire's header tied the game up at one in the 53rd minute.
The Dutchwomen will return to action Saturday against Vassar College. Kickoff is at 2 p.m. at College Park.
