Dutchwomen Bid Farewell to 2009 Hosting Maine This Weekend

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - As the 2009 year comes to an end, the Union College women's ice hockey team will close the year beginning a season-long six game homestand starting with the University of Maine on Friday and Saturday. Both games are scheduled to start at 2 p.m.

The Dutchwomen have two remaining opponents in the 2009-10 season that are outside of ECAC Hockey. Union will face North Dakota twice on New Year's Weekend.

In less than 24 hours before the game against Maine, sophomore forward Émilie Arseneault was selected by ECAC Hockey Thursday to represent the league at the 2010 ECAC Hockey All-Star Game against the United States National Team. (Click here for story)

About Maine

The Black Bears are coming off a 1-0 win over Vermont Saturday. In addition, Maine is unbeaten in its last six games. The last lost was on at Northeastern on Nov. 14.

Two of the Black Bear seniors are leading the team in goals. Forwards Jenna Ouellette and Taryn Peacock lead the team with seven goals each. With 15 assists this season, Ouellette leads the team in points with 22.

Four players have contributed more than 10 points this season, Ouellette (7-15-22), Peacock (7-9-16), junior forward Jennie Gallo (6-6-6) and senior forward/defenseman Lexie Hoffmeyer (3-9-12).

Freshman Brittany Ott has started 11 of 12 games in front of the net. She currently has a 2.27 goal-against average and a .926 save percentage. Sophomore Candice Currier has started eight games and has a 3.15 GAA and a .902 save percentage.

In the Coaches' Preseason Poll, Maine was picked to finish eighth in Hockey East.
