SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Freshman goaltender Alana Marcinko made 34 saves but the Dutchwomen (2-12-1, 0-6-1 ECAC Hockey) lost to rival Rensselaer 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

RPI's Whitney Naslund scored the first goal 9:16 into the second period when Naslund took a direct shot the left side of the goal. Alisa Harrison, who already had an assist with Naslund's goal, scored the second goal on the power play 08:11 into the third period.

Marcinko kept the game close throughout the first two periods. RPI's Sierra Vadner went around the back of the goal with the puck and took a shot outside but Marcinko made the stop.

The game was Marcinko's second 30 plus saves she made.

Midway into the third period, sophomore forward Émilie Arseneault took a shot just outside the left post. The puck was saved by RPI goaltender Sonja van der Bliek but she lost the puck and it rolled into the net just after the whistle was blown.

Sophomore forward Lauren Hoffman took a shot outside the crease but van der Bliek was made the save.

Union will face RPI again on Sunday at Troy. Faceoff is at noon.
