Brown Sneaks By Women's Hockey 3-2

PROVIDENCE, RI – After falling behind 2-0, the Union College women's ice hockey team fought back to even the score before losing 3-2 with on an early third period goal on Friday night. Freshman forward Emilie Arseneault and freshman forward Lauren Hoffman each scored for Union, which goes to 2-26-3 and 0-18-1 in conference play. Brown improves to 6-18-1 and 5-13-0 in ECAC Hockey.
 
Senior goaltender Lundy Day made 32 saves, including 11 in the second and 12 in the third. At the other end Nicole Stock made 14 saves.
 
Brown was led by goals by Jenna Dancewicz, Kath Surbey and Erica Kromm, who scored the game-winner 5:02 into the third period.
 
Arseneault and Hoffman each scored their team-high tying six goals of the season. Arseneault, who scored a 15:50 of the second on the power play, moved her season point total to nine points. Hoffman's goal at 18:12 on the man advantage in the second moved her tally to eight points.
 
Sophomore forward Marissa Gentile picked up her eighth assist and team-high tying 10th point of the season with an assist on Arseneault's goal and freshman defender Chelsey Heinhuis earned her fourth assists and fifth point with the second assist.
 
Freshman forward Adelle Calahan pulled even with Gentile for points with an assist on Hoffman's marker. Calahan now has a team-high nine assist and 10 points.
 
Both teams went 2-for-4 on the power play and the Bears outshot the Dutchwomen 35-16.
 
Union now travels to Yale for a 4 p.m. game on Saturday, Feb. 14.
