SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College men's lacrosse team erased an early deficit, but eventually lost to SUNY Oneonta, 9-6, on Wednesday at Frank Bailey Field. After trailing 3-0 in the first, Union responded with five of the next six goals; however, Oneonta broke away with three goals in the final quarter. With the loss Union goes to 1-1, while Oneonta improves to 2-3.
The Red Dragons came out strong in the first 10 minutes, grabbing a 3-0 lead thanks to a goal by senior Dennis Headrick and a pair by sophomore Andy Hilton. After Hall of Fame head coach
Paul Wehrum used a timeout to rally his team, the Dutchmen responded with three straight goals.

Scott Garibaldi tallied his first goal of the season with 2:53 remaining in the first to get on the board and junior
Charles Hovsepian made it 3-2 with 28 ticks remaining in the opening quarter.
Both teams went scoreless for half of the second until junior
Christopher Jacobson registered his third goal of the season at 7:57.
The Red Dragons' defense stepped up in the second half and limited Union to one goal, which came from freshman
Ethan Meyer.
Senior Nick Murray led the way for Oneonta with 19 saves, including 10 in the first and nine in the second. At the other end senior
Christopher Keinath made five saves.
The Dutchmen controlled the face-offs, winning 14-of-19, and collected 56 groundballs as compared to the Dragons' 28.
Next up for Union is a trip to Merchant Marine for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday, Mar. 14.
