Jocelyn Veilleux scored two goals to help the women's soccer team defeat Utica 5-0 on a chilly Wednesday night at College Park.
The Dutchwomen took an early lead in the sixth minute when senior
Bianca Germain delivered a cross pass to the goal box for junior
Katie McLean to make a one-touch shot that found the net and record her team-leading goal to five on the season.
In the 14th minute, the Dutchwomen extended their lead as senior
Allison Cuozzo took a shot about 30 yards from the goal box. Senior
Katie Weinstein scored her fourth goal on the season in the 20th minute after she delivered a curved shot to the right side of the goal and gave the Dutchwomen a 3-0.
Before halftime, Veilleux scored her first goal of the night on the 36th minute when she headed the ball from a cross by senior
Rachel Schneidman. Four minutes later, Veilleux scored her second goal of the night after receiving a pass from sophomore
Samantha Guidon.
Junior goalkeeper
Abby Stohler earned her sixth win and her first shutout on the season but only played in the first half. Freshman goalkeeper
Kayla Marti relieved Stohler at the start of the second half.
The Pioneers came close to scoring their first goal of the night in the 62nd minute when Danielle Smith made a direct shot to the goal inside the box but Marti made a spectacular dive to save the ball and prevent the shutout.
The Dutchwomen returns to the field on Saturday against Fredonia at College Park. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
