SCHENECTADY, NY -- The Union College men's basketball team experienced a 96-49 setback behind Skidmore's 58.5 percent shooting, including a 58.1 from three-point range. The game was the conference opener for both teams and the Dutchmen go to 4-7 overall, while the Thoroughbreds improve to 8-4.

Drew Goldstein contributed a team-high four steals, while senior guard
Joey Lokitis had a team-best five boards.
Senior forward Jon Doughlas led the Thoroughbreds with 26 points, thanks to an 8-for-9 showing from downtown. Freshman forward Sakhile Sithole was Skidmore's leading rebounder with six.
Skidmore was lights out from behind the arc in the first half, shooting 63.0 percent (12-19). Douglas led the way with seven threes in helped the Thoroughbreds jump out to a 13-3 lead within the first three-and-a-half minutes. In the final 7:03 of the half, Skidmore outscored Union 24-7, draining three from behind the three-point line. Douglas led all scorers in the opening half with 21 points and a 77.8 shooting percentage, putting the game out of reach.
Union returns to the Viniar Center on Friday, Jan. 15 for a 8 p.m. contest against Liberty League foe Hamilton.
