SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -
Quinnipiac came back from a 1-0 deficit with three third period goals en route to a 3-1 ECAC Hockey women's victory at Union Saturday afternoon at Messa Rink. The Bobcats improved to 7-4-5 in ECAC Hockey, and 14-8-6 overall, while the Dutchwomen fell to 1-14-1 in the league and 5-22-1 overall.

Kelly Davies, Kate Wheeler and Heather Hughes scored for the Bobcats while Nicole Bartlett scored for the Dutchwomen.

Union netminder Alana Marcinko made 30 saves on the day while Quinnipiac goaltender Victoria Vigilanti made 22 stops.

Right off the opening faceoff, Union had a chance for a very early lead. Just 11 seconds into the contest, Molly Kate Devin took a strong wrister that deflected off the right shoulder of Vigilanti. But the contest remained scoreless for most of the first period. With 6:40 left in the stanza Bobcat defenseman Regan Boulton took a drive from inside the left faceoff circle but Marcinko made the glove stop.

Union broke the ice at 18:19. After two straight stops by Vigilanti, Bartlett banged in the first goal of her career for the Dutchwomen. Officials converged to discuss the goal for a few minutes but then awarded it and the 1-0 lead held up through the end of the period. Quinnipiac had an 11-7 shot advantage at the end of the period.

Quinnipiac tied it at 11:48 on a power play goal. After an initial stop by Marcinko to the right of her cage, Davies deposited the rebound for her fifth of the season. Off the ensuing faceoff, the Bobcats took a 2-1 lead, just eight seconds after the first tally. Wheeler deked around the Union goalie and tucked in her fifth of the winter inside the left post. With 2:14 left in the second, Quinnipiac's Heather Hughes scored her 11th of the season when she broke in and shot it high and in under the crossbar for a 3-1 Bobcat lead. Quinnipiac outshot the Dutchwomen, 16-8 in that period. The third period was scoreless, while Union outshot the Bobcats, 8-6.

Union plays at St. Lawrence on Friday, February 5 at 7 p.m., and travels to Clarkson for a Saturday game at 4 p.m.
