SCHENECTADY, NY -- Senior guard Brady Bajema (Whitinsville, MA) scored a game high 20 points and senior guard Aaron Trigg (Overland Park, KS) had eight assists with 15 points to lead Gordon College to a 69-47 win over host Union College in the 2009 Sig Makofski Invitational Men's Basketball Tournament Monday night at the Viniar Athletic Center.

The Dutchmen, 3-6, will face Elms at 6 p.m. in Tuesday's Consolation Game, while the Fighting Scots will play in the Championship Game at 8 p.m. against Montclair State. Montclair downed Elms in the tournament's opener, 65-63.

This was Union's second home game of the season, as the Dutchmen defeated Southern Vermont on December 1.

Greg Walker (Uxbridge, MA) scored 17 points and Benjamin Gaskill (Columbus, OH) had seven boards for the Fighting Scots. Gordon shot 49% for the contest and outrebounded Union, 33-31.

Matt Covucci scored a team high 12 points and also led the Dutchmen with seven rebounds. He was the lone player in double figures, and added three assists. Drew Goldstein added nine points and three steals for Union, which shot 33% for the game.

Gordon had a slim 30-28 lead at halftime. Walker led the way with eight points in the first 20 minutes. But it was the closest Union would be the rest of the way. Trigg opened the second half with a three pointer at 19:38 to spark a 16-2 run in the first 6:59 of the second half and it was 49-33 Scots. The largest lead for Gordon came with 3:32 left (67-42).

Gordon will look to take the title for the second time in three seasons, as the Scots defeated Union in the title game on January 5, 2008. Union won the championship last season with a win over Southern Maine.
