Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

New Paltz Gets by Men's Soccer

Box Score

SCHENECTADY
, NY-  Visiting New Paltz scored on a penalty kick in the second half and it was all they would need as they defeated Union 1-0 on Wednesday evening in a non-conference game at College Park.  The Dutchmen are now 8-4-1 while New Paltz is 7-7.

The Hawks proved to be a tough opponent for Union despite coming into the game dropping four out of their last five games.  They held a slight advantage in shots 10-9 and had six shots on goal while Union had five.

The game remained scoreless until the 58th minute when New Paltz's Tommy Garafola connected on a direct penalty kick that got by Dutchmen goaltender Adam Margulies.

Union had three chances to tie the game later in the half on two headers by Tim Pryor and a hard shot from John Manna but New Paltz's Conor Power would be there to stop both scoring opportunities.

Margulies made five saves for the Dutchmen as did Powers.

Union returns to Liberty League play this Saturday as they take on St. Lawrence at 3:30 pm. at College Park.  It is a rematch of last Saturday's game in Canton in which the Saints prevailed 1-0 in overtime
