SCHENECTADY, NY – Freshman forward Matt Hatch scored the first two goals of his career, and senior forward Adam Presizniuk added a pair of goals to lead the 18th-ranked men's ice hockey team to a 7-2 win over RIT.
Sophomore goaltender Keith Kinkaid stopped 26 of 28 shots to pick up his fifth win of the year.
With the win, Union improved to 5-1 on the year, while the Tigers fell to 0-4-1 on the season.
The Dutchmen used three power-play goals to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the first period. Sophomore forward Wayne Simpson scored his fourth goal of the season at 2:44 to give the Dutchmen a 1-0 lead.
Senior forward Stephane Boileau added another score with the man advantage at 7:23 and Presizniuk scored on a deflection in front off a shot from the point at 16:20 to give the Dutchmen a three goal lead.
Hatch got on the board for the first time of his career, finishing off a feed from freshman forward Keith Sullivan at 3:01 of the second period.
Presizniuk would add his second of the game, redirecting a puck shot in traffic at 16:47 for a 5-0 Union lead.
Union would tack on two more even strength goals from Hatch and senior forward Andrew Buote at 3:38 and 8:12 of the third period, respectiviely.
Kinkaid's shutout bid ended at 16:18, on a power-play goal close in front of the net from RIT forward Tyler Brenner.
Brenner would add another power play goal late at 19:39.
Union will host Connecticut in its next contest at 7:00 on Oct. 28 at Messa Rink.
