Men's soccer earns 1-1 tie with RPI

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Junior forward Marc Zeyek scored with just over ten minutes left in the second half to help the men's soccer team earn a 1-1 tie against RPI.

With the tie, the Dutchmen moved to 8-5-2, while the Engineers improved to 7-4-3 on the season.

RPI mounted some early pressure on Union, as senior goalkeeper Adam Margulies made four saves to keep the game scoreless in the first half.

In the second half, the Engineers got on the scoreboard first at 66:31, when Blake Adams drew a penalty kick in the box. Adams fired a low shot that was stopped by Margulies, but he followed up his own shot and converted the rebound to give RPI a 1-0 lead.

At 79:03, Union evened the score on a give-and-go set up between Sahr Nyuma and Zeyek.

Nyuma received the ball just outside the 18-yard box, and made a touch pass to a streaking Zeyek, who beat RPI goalkeeper Alex Penny to tie the game at 1-1.

For the game, Union outshot RPI 11-9, including a 7-3 advantage in the second half. Union had a 1-0 shot advantage in overtime.

Union will take on Vassar tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day at College Park.
