Syracuse Shuts Out Dutchwomen

Marcinko made 16 saves in relief

SCHENECTADY, NY- The Union women's ice hockey team were shutout for the first time this season as the visting Syracuse Orange won 5-0 on Saturday afternoon at Messa Rink.

Ashley Cockell scored two goals to lead Syracuse.  

Kate Gallagher started for Union in goal and made 11 saves while giving up four goals. She was replaced by Alana Marcinko in the second period and she made 16 saves while giving up one goal.

Syracuse outshot the Dutchwomen 32-13 and went 2-for-4 on the power play while Union was 0-for-3.  

Union begins conference play next Friday on the road when they take on Clarkson at 7 pm.
