SCHENECTADY, NY- The Union men's soccer team will host its first home Liberty League playoff game in five years as they take on RPI this Wednesday night at 7 pm at College Park. Admission to the game is free.
The Dutchmen finished the regular season with a record of 10-5-2 and were 5-1-2 in the Liberty League, securing the #2 seed in the conference. This year marked their 10th straight winning season. Union is led in scoring by Craig Santangelo and Sebastiaan Jansen who both have seven goals. Junior forward Marc Zeyak has been on a tear recently and has scored five goals in the last three games. In goal is junior Adam Margulies whose 62 saves are third in the Liberty League and is third in shutouts with five.
RPI was 9-4-4 in the regular season and went 4-1-2 in the Liberty League and secured the #3 seed. Jake Tonkel leads the team with four goals. Goaltender Alex Penny has a 0.67 GAA which is second in the conference and has nine shutouts which is first overall.
The teams played to a 1-1 tie back on October 23 at College Park. Last year in the semifinals, the Dutchmen defeated the Engineers 3-2 in double OT at Renwyck Field.
