The Bobcats got on the board quickly as they scored just 30 seconds into the first period. They would go up 2-0 when Kelley Davies slipped the puck past Union goaltender
Alana Marcinko. Her night was done as
Kate Gallagher took over between the pipes. Alyea raced down the ice and scored the short-handed goal at 8:25 to make it a 2-1 game. Quinnipiac would add their third goal with 37 seconds left in the first.
The Dutchwomen still trailed 3-1 going into the third period when Emilie Aresenault's shot bounced off Bobcat goaltender Victoria Vigilanti and Alyea banked in the rebound to make it 3-2. Gallagher would be pulled with 30 seconds left to play for the extra attacker but Union could not capitalize on it.
Union was outshot 42-20 in the game. The penalty kill was effective as Quinnipiac was 0-for-5 on the power play.
