Box Score

ORONO, ME-
Stefanie Thomson scored her team leading fourth goal of the season with eight seconds left to play but it was just not enough as host Maine held on for the 2-1 victory on Saturday afternoon.

The game was scoreless heading into the third period. The Bears got on the board first when Brianne Kilgour controlled the puck deep in the right corner and sent a pass into the slot which Dominique Goutsis redirected into the net for the score at 6:47. The goal was reviewed but eventually stood. Kilgour again sent a pass from the right corner to a streaking  Missy Denk in the slot who tapped it into the goal to give Maine the 2-0 lead at 13:45.

With time winding down in the final period, Union pulled goaltender Kate Gallagher for the extra attacker. Skating 6-on-5, Ashley Johnston fired a shot that was blocked. Lauren Hoffman was able to get the puck to Thomson in the slot who fired a wrist shot passed Bear goaltender Candice Currier with eight seconds left.

Gallagher made 35 saves in goal for the Dutchwomen. Currier had 21 saves for Maine.

Union is off the next few weeks and will return to home ice on New Year's Day when they will host Vermont at 2 pm.
