SCHENECTADY, NY- The Union women's ice hockey team hosted the University of Connecticut Huskies on Wednesday night at Messa Rink and the visitors came away with a 1-0 victory.
The lone goal of the game was scored at 13:08 of the first period by Brittany Murphy.
The Dutchwomen had an excellent chance late in the third period when
Kate Gallagher was pulled for the extra attacker but they could not penetrate the Husky defense.
Union was outshot 38-18 in the game. They committed four penalties while UConn was only whistled twice.
Alana Marcinko started the game for Gallagher who was out temporarily with an equipment issue. Marcinko made one save in her brief 1:51 of playing time. Gallagher made 36 saves in goal to keep Union in the game. Nicole Paniccia had 18 saves for the Huskies.
Union heads on the road to take on Maine this Friday at 2 pm.
