Rachel Titcomb had a team high eight rebounds with nine points in her final game as the Union College women's basketball team concluded the season with a 63-52 loss at St. Lawrence at Burkman Gym Saturday.
The Dutchwomen finish the 2009-10 campaign with a 7-17 overall mark and a 5-9 record in the Liberty League. St. Lawrence, which will play in next week's league tourney at Skidmore, is 18-6 and 10-4 in the league.
Seniors
Megan Clark and
Talitha Linden-Darrow also wrapped up their careers for the Dutchwomen. Clark scored 10 points and had four rebounds, while Linden-Darrow had three rebounds off the bench. McCormick finished the season scoring in double figures in 19 of the 23 games.
St. Lawrence had four players in double figures, led by Brittany Parham with 19. Abby Stanton and Iris Santoni scored 11 each and Katherine Edgerton had 10 points. Stanton's nine rebounds led the Saints on the boards.
The Saints had a six point advantage at the half, 31-25. A layup by Union's
Mary Donohue with 43 seconds gone in the second half pulled the Dutchwomen to within four at 31-27. But the Saints went on a 10-4 run in the next 5:02 for a 10 point lead, 41-31 after a jumper by Nyasha Miller. Union was as close as 10 again after a jumper by Clark made it 44-34 with 11:46 left, but the Saints pulled away and led by as many as 22 at 63-41 with 4:02 remaining.
St. Lawrence had a 46-41 rebounding advantage and both teams shot 35% for the day.
